There are long careers.
There are legendary careers.
And then there is LeBron James.
Twenty-four years in the NBA is not simply a number. It is a distance travelled that is almost impossible to comprehend. It means entering the league when some of today’s players were not even born, then remaining relevant through multiple generations of teammates, coaches, systems, technologies, cities and basketball philosophies.
Now, at 41, LeBron is preparing for Year 24 — and somehow, the story has found another chapter.
Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia 76ers.
A new city. A new locker room. A new Eastern Conference mission. A new set of expectations.
And, perhaps most remarkably, a new reason to keep playing.
LeBron has already done the thing that most athletes spend their entire lives chasing. He has won championships. Four of them. He has won MVP awards. He has become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. He has played for Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles, won championships in different places, carried different uniforms, adapted to different teammates and coaches, and repeatedly reinvented the version of himself required to keep winning.
And yet, here he is again.
Working.
Preparing.
Building.
